This game rocks. Its predecessor, Madden 2001, while the latest in a long line of Madden sequels, was still pretty much the first of it's kind. No other game matched Madden's ability to totally immerse the player in the sports gaming experience. From its almost photo realistic players + stadiums, to it's spot on sound, it had all the bells and whistles. However, the one stumbling point of the 2001 version was the gameplay. It was too easy, especially on the harder difficulty levels.
Enter this year's version. I firmly believe that this is without a doubt, the best Madden of all time, and the 1.5th best football video game of all time (no. 1 still is NFL 2K2 for the DC...more on that later). This year's version added more modes, like training mode (a tutorial mode hosted by Madden himself), two minute drill (two minutes to score as many points against the defense) and other modes as well. Also, it firmed up a lot of the gameplay. Now, even on the default level good teams will give you a run for your money, and great teams are very hard to beat, just like it should be.. It's a lot more balanced and fun experience.
